^;____;^I GOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY^;________;^
Hey guys remember how I said that I was going to go and buy a bike today. Well I driving to the store and I was driving at the speed limit and a bunch cars were just racing by. And that was ok, I felt like taking it easy...I mean I just wanted to buy a bike and do exercise with it.
So I'm driving and I am almost at the center of the city when I see all these cones on the right side of the road by the theatre. The left side was open so I just wanted to get to the street that lead to the bike shop and I drove past the cones.
There was some sort of play going on...so there were all these cars parked all over the place. I got about half by the street and there was a guy directing the traffic. He said that I couldn't go through the street and he said to turn around. He kept standing next to the front side of my car, so I had to back up a little bit to be able to turn by him. So I back up incredibly slow, I start to stop. And then I hear a LOUD noise. I didn't know what I hit at the time. I thought that I just had hit a bump because I was stopping already.
The guy that supposed to be directing the traffic says "what are you doing!" so I put my car in park and get out. Then I saw another car behind mine. This car hit me because it was surely going fast. I wasn't even sure what side it hit of my car. I was looking at the left side of the back of my car and I didn't see anything. So I thought no big deal, it must have been just a little bump.
Then a cop that was there came by and I told him that the person driving the other car hit me. Then he said, well you are not supposed to be here because there were cones on the right side of the road.
Then I took a look to see what the damage was on the other car. It had a dent by where the gas is pumped.
Then this other man came and that was when I found out that the woman did not own the car, because she was the vallet parking person. It was the man that owned the car.
I told the guy that I had money and that I could pay for this damage in the spot. I told him that I could give him $100, $200 or more. I had about 300 dollars on me, because I had plans to buy a bike and some other things.
So he said, "I'll just take your car insurance information and let them deal with it"..."the damage is surely over $500 so the insurance company will take care of it" [Now I'll have to pay for something that wasn't even my fault]
So I said ok.
The cop asked for my drivers license, registration and insurance. The thing here was that a long time ago I passed my course driving test, but I had never gone to pick up my actual license, because of lack of time.
So that cop was talking to the guy that was directing the traffic that my stamped and approved license paper was not an actual license.
So he radio'd another cop to come so that he could write a police report.
In the meantime the cop told me that by passing by the cones I had lost my ability to claim my innocense even if the woman hit me.
He was a cop and I am too much of a nice person to argue. So I said ok.
Then the other cop arrived and they start talking about how my license approved paper is not a license.
I proceed to explain that I passed all the requirements and that all that I have to do is to go and take a picture to the division of motor vehicles and that my license would be given to me on the spot.
So i was trying to explain this to the cop on the car and the other cop says to stand on the outer side of the cops open door.
THEN HE PUSHED his finger on my chest. So I said "don't touch me" (in a passive manner)...then the cop said I CAN TAKE YOU TO JAIL RIGHT NOW...and he said this in a mean and repetitive way. So then I said I am just trying to explain that my license approval is valid.
So THEN HE RADIO'ED A TRUCK TO TOW MY CAR!
So then I felt sad because the cop is just being plain mean because he sees that I'm not that old like most drivers. He started doing the-(he's not supposed to be driving alone when he is a new driver...his license paper is not a real license)-thing. But my license approval paper is completely valid for driving unsupervised.
Then I looked at the right side of the back of my car and I see that my tail-light is broken. I walked over to examine the damage which I was surprised to have seen. I was thrown off by the sound when the other car hit...that I thought it hit on the left side.
I examined my bumper and there was nothing wrong with it. Only my tail light was knocked out.
This clearly shows that the vallet parking woman was going too fast.
So the tow vehicle arrives and I proceed to take a small aliment that I had bought for my mom and a computer screen filter (that I was charged too much for previously...but that's another story). Then I locked the glove compartment and my trunk has a special lock inside the car that I always keep locked so the car is pretty safe against petty theft. (however, there's around 10dollars in quarters and bills that I use for the parking meters in the ash tray...yeah parking is a rip off at my college...even though I paid 80 dollars for a parking permit. The permit only allows me to park in one of the many and far away divisions of the college which expands to three nearby cities and 3 far away cities)
The tow car person was friendly though..and he said that his place was honest that I needed not to worry. I separated the keys from my keychain and only left him the ignition key. I took confort on his friendly manner and I took driving directions to the place where I am supposed to pick up my car on MONDAY. Yeah I know that's a bummer...now I won't be able to drive to college. I think I'm going to buy that bike tommorrow anyway so that I can ride to college.
Then my car was taken away and the cop finally acknowledged my kindness and shook my hand. He gave me some final instructions and told me where to pick up the police report(which I am sure is biased )
So after that I was really really sad and I decided to walk home.
I kept some of the big fragments from my broken tail light and headed up the dark street.
When I got home I told my mom what happened and she wasn't mean but she acknowledged her unhapiness. And she said that my insurance rate would go up...and in subtle way she said that I was going to have to work more to pay. Then I said that that was ok...but that I would have to switch jobs and work on Saturdays and Sundays (these are not spent by me in relaxation, instead I have to drive my mom around from early after noon until the night because she has a business...and things like that)
So either way I have to also tell my dad so that he can take care of the insurance bit. I was supposed to tell him about the problem when he got home, but for some reason today he arrived too late. Around midnight to be precise, so tommorrow all hell might break loose. Well hopefully not.
This is a sad day for me. The only time in the months since I got my car that was the only day when I was allowed to go out and take a look at something that interested me. And the day was ruined by the stupidity of a vallet driver that was driving too fast.
So then I told my mom that I would not drive anymore...but she said to keep driving because all people need to. (You see i don't have a big need to drive, but she pushed me into it, because she needed me to drive her for her business things)
Either way I'm going to try and buy that bicycle tommorrow anyway...because all I want to do is mountain bike...this is probably the only thing I'll have to be entertained...because I'm stressed and tired all the time by my demanding schedule.
