ok check this out. So I work at this prestigious ["hopital"<---french ne in the operatinng room] and working there is like joining the mafia or something. If someone from your family works there you're in. People are really friendly there. It's like everyone greets everybody else with a smile. I immediately felt this on the first day that I'd had joined. I was supposed to attend an orientation right after I began working, but I didn't get around to it until recently. So I attended the orientation and among many things one of the presentation people--a lady to be precise--explained how when she told a guy in a different hopital about where she worked, the guy repplied "ah the ho*pital with all the happy people" :) So anyway I really like this aspect of my workplace.
Another thing is that the people who you regularly work with "the second shift team in this case" is very much like a family. They go to restaurants together, they go over each others houses, have like food gatherings during their breaks and all kinds of stuff like that. I only joined for the summer, but now I've decided to stay. I stayed partly because they pay so frickin' well. However there are expectations for getting payed well. Your job must be perfect. Mistakes are immediately reported and people sorta get yelled at. Luckily I managed to escape all the close calls ;) This brings me back to the mafia thing. If you mess up too much, they terminate you pretty much in the spot no matter how long you've been there. It is really like that movie "Good Fellas" if you have watched you'll know what I'm talking about. So you gotta be a good fella or you'll get whacked =D
Also once your in it's hard to get out. It's like a life style. If you do a good job you'll get groomed and go on to do more complicated things. Most people there have been working for ages. They usually started when they were in their early 20's (sorta like at the bottom of the mafia) and now they help out in all sorts of operations. Sometimes I feel like the kid of the big family. Just like in "Good Fellas." They let me slip by with the few mistakes that I've made. I think that they are not that mean to me because I really work my butt off there. I'm not kidding, they even compliment me sometimes.
NOW A REALLY GOOD REASON TO STAY is that there's this girl. Well there's always a girl who changes things for you. I was thinking hmm if they somewhat mention that they want me to stay as a normal employee then i'll stay--(I knew this would happen however, I was undecided about staying, but that didn't matter because like I said once you're in it's hard to get out)--
